When a class in botanical watercolor by Marilyn Garber was offered near my home, I was mildly interested. I knew very little about about painting botanically accurate watercolors. But working on the theory that if you want to play jazz piano really well you're wise to study the classics, I signed up. Garber has a nationally renowned reputation, and I figured that this was a discipline from which I could benefit. I didn't expect to fall in love with it.
